Your Detroit Tigers opened up this weekend with a home series set against the Minnesota Twins, a division rival that had fans excited for a good weekend of baseball, and boy they weren't disappointed. The Tigers won the series 2-1 after a 4-1 loss Friday night. With the twins at a losing record at that point, and not being a threat to the Tigers, many fans were worried the Tigers may not be able to put away a small team such as the Twins, however, the Tigers said otherwise.
Saturday the Tigers answered back with a 10-5 win over the Twins, showing their powerful hitting yet again- something this Tigers team has shown us a lot this season. In a sport that demands a good offense, the Tigers certainly have one, and were able to put it on display in this series. In game 3 on Sunday, the Tigers got the series win with a shutout 3-0 win over the Twins. It goes to show a bad game in a series doesn't define how that series will end, or the teams in the series itself.
The Tigers are on the road this week, going up against a poor Washington Nationals team mid week, and then, Detroit fans will get a real treat this 4th of July weekend. The Tigers are set to head on the road to Cleveland for a rematch of the Guardians, hoping to win the series and get revenge against the team that caused their playoff exit. Should be a good week and weekend for Detroit all around, and lets see if the Tigers can ride that win streak.
