Yesterday, the Detroit Tigers lost game 2 of a 3-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, with a final score of 8-5. The Pirates are having a poor season, and going up against a first place team, you would think this would be an easy series win for the Tigers. However, it's quite the opposite. The Tigers have lost the series, and are just hoping to get a win in game 3 to avoid being swept.
Detroit's next series is back at home against the Toronto Blue Jays, who sit at 59-42, and at the top of their division. Many fans including myself are concerned that if the Tigers are struggling against teams like the Pirates, we can only expect a worse performance from teams such as the Blue Jays. While I'm not writing off the series, this Tigers slump has me concerned as it might affect their postseason standings.
The Tigers have had a really bad slump no doubt, losing 3 series straight. They are also on a 2-game losing streak, and the offense and defense have yet to put up solid performances to get a series win. This article isn't meant to be all negative- it's simply a warning and a wake up call that if the Tigers want to be the dominant team they've shown us they can be, they need to get their act together, otherwise, we may see a season end sooner than anticipated.
