This 4th of July weekend treated Tigers fans kindly, not just with an intense division rival series, but also with a sweep against the team that bounced them out of the playoffs. In a 3-game series the Tigers dominated in all games, getting a 2-1 victory on Friday, a 1-0 victory on Saturday, and finished it off nicely with a 7-2 victory on Sunday. For a Tigers team who's been looking to strike back at Cleveland, this series certainly provided them with that.

So after this series win, where do the Tigers stand? At a 57-34 record, and tied for the best record in the league, it's looking like the Tigers are going to clinch their division, and most likely get a high seed in the playoffs. We are deep in the season now, past the mid-way point, so playoff discussion are starting to become a reality. With how poor the rest of the Tigers division has played, it's very possible we could see the Tigers claim an early division title.

Coming up this week, the Tigers head back home to face the Tampa Bay Rays, sitting at 49-41, an interesting matchup for the Tigers. Then they'll stay at home to take on the Seattle Mariners, at 42-48. Both of these series shouldn't be a huge problem for the Tigers, but against winning teams that are trying to gain dominance, it's important not to count out the underdogs- trust me, Detroit fans have known what it's like. Overall, Tigers fans have finally struck back, and have good things on their horizon.
