No matter what sports team you're a fan of, one of this summer's biggest sports headlines was "Where will Micah Parsons be this season?". Well, last night we got our answer to that question. Micah is headed to the Green Bay Packers for 2 first round picks and Kenny Clark. His new contract also puts him at the highest paid non-QB player. Even though this trade doesn't directly impact the Lions, here's how it might indirectly impact them.

For starters, this trade makes the division much more competitive. With the Packers looking like they could win the division this year, this trade easily makes that a possibility. Some even see the Packers winning the Super Bowl. Being a Lions fan, I am definitely not happy about this. That being said I'll give credit where it's due and say the Packers are definitely a threat this year. If Detroit wants to win their division, it's going to be a tough road ahead.

However, the fact that the Packers had to give up 2 first rounders to get Parsons begs the question: Will the Packers be great this year, but not be as great in the next few years due to lack of good rookie talent? I think there's a very good chance this trade was a short-term success, but a long-term fail for the Packers. Ultimately, only time will tell. Micah is still a great player and may account for that missing rookie talent. Either way, the Packers VS Lions week 1 matchup has even more spice to it now.
