With the NFL opening week approaching fast, it's that time of year again where teams begin to make cuts to their roster. The Detroit Lions made theirs yesterday, and a surprise came at the QB position. While most including myself (as I noted on my podcast) knew that Hooker was likely going to lose the QB 2 battle to Kyle Allen, I thought the Lions would keep 3 QB's. This did not seem to be the case, as Hendon Hooker was cut.
The Lions are only keeping 2 quarterbacks this year. Jared Goff as the starter obviously, and Kyle Allen backing him up. Hendon Hooker is off of the Lions, so he's out looking for a new team. I still believe Hooker has a chance to do something special in this league- the timing just didn't work out with the Lions. While I don't see him doing anything crazy, I do think he has some starting potential down the road.
The Lions full roster has some new editions to it. Dominic Lovett and Isaac Teslaa both made the starting roster at the WR position. This is great and adds depth after WR Tim Patrick got traded today for a 6th. Christian Mahagony and Tate Ratledge both made the starting roster for the O-line as well. Overall, despite some familiar faces leaving, I think the Lions are set up well for success.

This article is fire. I do miss Hendon as well. I loved playing as him in Madden! I guess he's on the Panthers now? Good for him!
